It was at Amy & Joel’s engagement session that I truly began to see the depth of their love for each other. The quiet, knowing glances…the relaxed laughter…the tender embraces…these two truly share a deep love and that love set the perfect stage for their stunningly gorgeous, relaxed backyard wedding this past summer.
Held in the backyard of Amy’s childhood home, their wedding embodied Amy & Joel’s relaxed, family-centric personalities while providing a gorgeous backdrop in which to start their married life together. When I arrived and pulled out my camera, I was immediately amazed at the level of detail Amy & Joel had put in to making their day meaningful. Photos of family and friends dotted the tables around the yard while hand-painted signs directed guests around the property. Spotless place-settings garnished an elegant yet inviting reception area and family-focused yard games rounded out the gorgeous decor while also providing additional activities for the wedding guests. And then there was the wardrobe…ugh, SO LOVELY. Lavender and dark purple dresses complimented the light grey ties and pants worn by the groomsmen while light flowers and rich greenery combined to craft a wedding aesthetic that was as much whimsical as it was romantic. Yeah…I know, it was basically a perfect day ;)
But for all the stunning surroundings, it was truly the people that made this day so perfect. I could say this a thousands times – Amy & Joel’s carefree, lighthearted, caring personalities provided the foundation for a day full of emotion, laughter, tight hugs, quiet moments, and unhindered celebration…and it was truly beautiful. Quietly capturing moments during their first look, smiling and cheering with them as they said their vows, and tearing up as family members shared meaningful stories during the reception (oh yes, I totally get emotional at weddings) was such an immense honor and every time I look back through these images I recall with pleasure the moments we shared together. It was seriously such a complete joy to spend the day with Amy & Joel and I can’t think of a better way to wrap up the day then by allowing them to share some quiet moments with each other in an apple orchard as the sun set on their first day as a married couple. I’ll forever remember with fondness this lovely backyard wedding and what a privilege it was to capture the pure joy, love, and emotion of this special day on camera.
