Finishing up a bunch of work before heading to Cal Finishing up a bunch of work before heading to California for a few shoots this weekend...so crazy thankful that travel is now much more of an option than it was last year and for the amazing couples who trust me to photograph them all over the country! On the flip side, it’s also SO fun to get to shoot locally too...like this cute morning session I had with Jacob and Shelby a couple weeks ago in downtown GH. Man...I love my job 😍😍
Although the vast majority of my work centers arou Although the vast majority of my work centers around weddings and couples, I’ve been having a ton of fun lately adding a few additional categories to my arsenal...most recently, branding sessions for artists! I shot some beautiful stuff with @brookegriffithmusic a little over a week ago for some new music she’s going to be releasing...here’s a couple shots from our time together!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the power of pers I’ve been thinking a lot about the power of personal work lately. If you’re anything like me, you got into photography because you LOVED shooting. Most likely you started off with a fire for capturing moments, documenting everything, and always had your camera at your side. But, over time and as you started getting paid to use your camera, that passion faded somewhat and photography became merely a job – a means to pay the bills…a skill that you executed rather than a passion you exercised. And that rut can kill creativity, turn work that should be fun and live-giving into a burden, and ultimately grind your business and photography career to a halt.

So…how do you break out of that rut and inject life and passion into your work again? Don’t worry, I’ve got you 🤙🏼🎉 I’ve been realizing more and more that the way to inject life and creativity back into your work is by going right back to where we all started…by shooting just for the fun of it. And it’s honestly pretty crazy…as I’ve reflected on the work I’ve done over the past years, I can look back and specifically pinpoint how personal projects have breathed incredible life into my business and career and launched new opportunities for my professional work.

If you’re feeling that burnout and struggling to breathe creative life into your photography work, I’d love to chat with you about that! I’m cohosting a Clubhouse chat in just a couple hours with @emily.magers all about the power of personal work and how it can breathe life into our businesses and we’d LOVE for you to join us, share your experiences and struggles, and brainstorm ideas for personal projects that can breathe life into our work.

Come join us at 3pm EST (12pm PST) for an awesome chat - we’ll see you there!!
